SHORT-TERM RENTAL ORDINANCE—FCNC APRIL 10 FORUM WITH PLANNING STAFF TO DISCUSS AND ANSWER QUESTIONS

Dear Neighbors,

Last Friday Lexington neighborhoods were mailed notice of the Planning Commission’s May 11, 2023, hearing on the Council-proposed ZOTA to define, permit, and regulate short-term rentals like Airbnb in most of our city’s zones—on both residential land and much of the bordering office and business land.

Please join FCNC a month ahead of the hearing, on Monday, April 10 at 6:30 p.m., for an FCNC general meeting with Planning Staff. Our public forum with Planning Staff on April 10 will be at Tates Creek Christian Church, 3150 Tates Creek Road. The doors will open at 6:10. Please enter from Albany Road and park at the far back of the church.

Please note that the issue being legislated, short-term rentals in Lexington, is very complicated and contentious. It is important for your neighborhood to have knowledge of the proposals and to have contact with the proposers. We will email you again shortly (this week, before April 10) a digest of talking points regarding the issue, but for now, please reserve time on your calendar for the meeting.

After the April 10 meeting with FCNC, please arrange to share the proposal with your neighbors and encourage them to discuss it with LFUCG Council Members as well as with Planning Commissioners and Planning Staff. This is an issue of paramount importance to neighborhoods.

Please put Monday April 10 on your calendar, and plan to attend the meeting at Tates Creek Christian Church at 6:30 p.m..

Thanks,

Walt Gaffield, President

Fayette County Neighborhood Council, Inc.
