December 22, 2020
Dear Neighbors,
The Fayette County Neighborhood Council will host a general meeting via ZOOM on Monday, January 11, at 7:00 p.m. We will discuss and vote to adopt revised by-laws for the FCNC as well as discuss other current issues, a list of which will be sent under separate cover to help you prepare questions for the meeting.
If you wish to attend the ZOOM general meeting, please send your name, organization name, phone number (preferably cell), and email address to fayetteneighborhoods@gmail.com. To register attendees for Zoom, we need your information by Thursday, January 7, 2021.
You can find the draft by-laws for review here. Some of the changes:
– each member organization and unattached member will have one vote
– committees will be established to do the general business of FCNC; we will need wide member participation to be successful
– board membership terms will rotate so that the board can take advantage of diversity and have a broader reach in the community.
We have existing vacancies on the FCNC Board of Directors, and passage of the new by-laws will allow us to fill them. Board Members will have limited, rotating terms. If you are interested in being on the FCNC Board or have a recommendation, please let us know at fayetteneighborhoods@gmail.com.
Note that under the new by-laws each neighborhood member organization will have to submit the name and contact information for two voting members–a delegate and an alternate delegate. Please start thinking about that now, as it may take a while to select delegates.
I anticipate that the FCNC will be far more active in 2021, at least initially through ZOOM. We hope that eventually the vaccine can improve that situation.
Please enjoy the holiday season, mask up, and stay safe!
Walt Gaffield, President
Fayette County Neighborhood Council, Inc.
