Next month, Mayor Linda Gorton will hold her first Mayor’s Neighborhood Summit to engage community members on issues affecting their neighborhoods.

From 8:30 AM until Noon on Saturday, June 1, at the Lexington Senior Center, the Mayor’s Neighborhood Summit will allow community members from across the city to come together, interact with Mayor Gorton and Councilmembers, and discuss issues affecting their neighborhoods. This is the first citywide neighborhood-focused summit in nearly a decade.

“Neighborhoods are critical to quality of life for our citizens,” Gorton said. “I want to encourage neighborhood engagement and leadership. This summit is an opportunity for neighbors to get a better understanding of local government, the challenges neighborhoods face, and the resources available to them.”

The Mayor’s Neighborhood Summit will include four breakout session topics — public safety, opioids, community and neighborhood engagement, and local government basics. Coffee and light breakfast will be provided to attendees. Although pre-registration is not required, it is requested. The Senior Center is located behind Southland Christian Church on Richmond Road.
