ADU information sheet & FCNC issues and concerns

July 9, 2021

Dear Neighbors,

I look forward to seeing you all in person at our general meeting this coming Monday, July 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Tates Creek Christian Church (enter on Albany Road just off Tates Creek). We last had a general in-person meeting March of 2020. The Council has deferred considering Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) until now (second dwellings allowed on single-family lots) to allow public participation.

In preparation for Monday night, the FCNC has posted two documents on its website, fcnc.org. Please look over the list of ADU issues and concerns before the meeting; add any that you find missing, and choose the ones that matter most to you and your neighborhood. What are your priorities? You may also want to scan the ADU Information Highlights to get an overview of the ordinance as it now comes before the Urban County Council.

We will share questions and clarify and discuss the proposed ordinance Monday night. What will be your own neighborhood’s response, and can we agree on a general response for FCNC as a whole? What issues are of most importance to us all?

It will be great to see you and have a real discussion face to face. I also hope that many will plan to take part in the Council’s Planning and Public Service Committee meeting on ADUs — also in person — on Tuesday August 10 at 1:00 p.m. when they return from summer break.
